Nastro Piloti handlebar tape is for riders who want a thinner, more aerodynamic wrap. Great for riders who prefer to have the padding in their gloves instead of the tape or for riding with thicker, insulated gloves. This tape from Silca is just 1.85mm thick, but provides equivalent cushion to 2.5mm thick tapes from other brands.
Based on rider preference, the tape can be wrapped in a high-texture or moderate-texture orientation. It is constructed from SILCAthane, SILCAlon, and 3M disco-elastic adhesive, instead of a single foam layer like competing tapes. The result is softer and more comfortable, offers better grip in wet and dry, and lasts longer too.
Silca has produced what they call a "butterfly", which better covers the back of the brake lever clamp area without adding bulk.
