Chicane Pro is a super fast-rolling choice from Challenge designed for use on dry hardpack, grass, or ice. It's built on the new HTLR (handmade, tubeless-ready) casing from Challenge for the best possible tubeless cyclocross race performance available today. Like the other HTLR cyclocross tires, the Chicane Pro HTLR is designed to meet the UCI and USAC tire width rules (maximum 33mm wide) when used with rims with internal width of up to 23mm.

Fast file-type tread in the center, with edge knobs for cornering

Chicane is a great choice for racing in early season 'cross races, when courses are dry and fast on hardpack dirt or grass. The minimal knobs in the center of the tire roll incredibly quickly to maximize your power output, but you still get aggressive edge knobs for cornering.

PPS Puncture Protection Strip

No one wants a race-ending flat tire. The HTLR line, including the Chicane, utilizes Challenge PPS - a special fabric placed in between the tire casing and tread. This strip reduces the risk of a race-ending puncture.

High-end handmade tubeless casing

This version of the Chicane is for cyclocross racers who demand top performance, featuring the new Challenge handmade (HTLR) tubeless-ready casing. The handmade casing creates a tire with low rolling resistance and most comfort possible.

A similar tire, the Chicane Vulcanized Tubeless-ready is also available for riders who prefer the same tread shape, but in a more economical casing option.

Meets ISO, ETRTO standards, plus hookless compatible

The HTLR line from Challenge meets the new ETRTO and ISO tubeless standards, and is also hookless compatible.

Challenge tubeless-ready tires can be mounted with or without inner tubes. When used tubeless, a liquid tire sealant is needed (Challenge's own SMART tubeless sealant recommended, but others can be used as well.) Challenge tires should not be mounted on wheels that don't meet ISO or ETRTO standards.

Excellent

Have about 200 miles on these tires with two cx races one of which was wet conditions. Tires are surprising good for a file(ish) tread. Hook up well and roll nice. Predictable. Have been pleasantly surprised. Actually like these better than the grifo tires. Quickly becoming a go-to. Impressed!

Best Dry Condition CX Tire

Challenge Chicanes are the absolute best dry/mixed conditions tire! Light, supple, and resilient, although I tore my palms up mounting them! Excellent customer service at RideCX, I was looking for Chicanes for a local CX race and couldn't find them anywhere around Boise area bike shops. Every other online shop couldn't expedite shipping to receive before the race. I called rideCX and they were able to get me the tires the day before the race! So thankful for the amazing customer service they provided 🙏

Thanks for the review, Ryan. Glad I was able to get these to you in time for your race.

Fast, supple, pro-looking, and hard as &$)” to install.

These tires look awesome with the tan sidewalls. Several have mistook them for tubs. They are fast and have great side knobs for aggressive cornering. This is my first set of tubeless tires and I would rather glue 100 tubulars before mounting another pair. Have a buddy come over and make sure you are using a tubeless tire scissor-lever. I gave myself a TSS of 45 for the effort.
