Team Visma Lease-a-Bike has formally announced the 2024/25 cyclocross calendar for superstar rider Wout van Aert. For van Aert, returning to cyclocross marks the conclusion of a long period of recovery following a crash and knee injury during the Vuelta a España.
The planned races for van Aert are:
- Mol - December 23, 2024 (Superprestige)
- Loenhout - December 27, 2024 (Exact Cross)
- Gullegem - January 4, 2025 (Superprestige)
- Dendermonde - January 5, 2025 (World Cup)
- Benidorm - January 19, 2025 (World Cup)
- Maasmechelen - January 25, 2025 (World Cup)
Sadly, Diegem, the night race that has been the location of some very watchable races in the past and one of my favorites, is not on the list.
What about the World Championship?
The Liévin, France cyclocross world championships, scheduled for late January, don't appear on the calendar released by Visma Lease-a-Bike. At least for now.
What bike will he ride?
Expect to see van Aert on the Cervélo R5CX, a model he has used previously, which has been seen already in 2024 under teammate Fem van Empel.
