The Spring Classics cycling season is underway for 2022. Recall that Wout van Aert skipped the Fayetteville cyclocross World Championship specifically to work on preparations for the road season, so let's hope it was worth it!
With today's Omloop Het Nieuwsblad marking the informal start of the Spring Classics calendar, let's take a look at the streaming providers for 2022 and how to stream each race*. Want to catch them all? You'll need a subscription to 3 streaming services:
GCN+
GCN+ has a packed calendar, with too many minor events to list here. The major ones carried on the GCN+ service are:
- Strade Bianche (the "gravel monument")
- Milan-SanRemo
- GP E3
- and though not a Spring Classic, the Giro d'Italia
This is not an exhaustive list of every event. See GCN+ full list here.
FloBikes
Flo's annual subscription service for cycling has some more key events. The company has the USA streaming rights for these races in Spring 2022:
- today's Omloop Het Nieuwsblad
- Gent-Wevelgem
- Dwars door Vlaanderen
- the Ronde van Vlaanderen (Tour of Flanders)
- Scheldeprijs
- Amstel Gold race
This is only a partial list, see FloBikes full coverage list here.
Peacock
Remember NBC Sports? Although the NBCSN cable / satellite channel ceased operations, the same parent company still operates as a streaming provider, and holds the rights to several cycling races. All of the content found formerly on NBC Sports Gold Cycling Pass has moved to Peacock Premium.
Peacock Premium is the provider for:
- Paris-Roubaix
- Liege-Bastogne-Liege
- La Fleche Wallonne
- Although not a Spring Classic, the Tour de France later this year as well
Amazingly, as of Feb 26, 2022 Peacock has not published a schedule showing their calendar of cycling events - but rest assured they do in fact have broadcast rights for races you'll want to watch. The good news is Peacock Premium allows monthly subscriptions that can be turned on/off at any time, keeping your risk low if they don't deliver.
I'm excited to watch all the Spring Classics and keep on eye on our favorite cyclocross stars on the road. See you out there.
* this list assumes you are in the USA. If not, YMMV.
